Attack version – Room and content fire

During an acquired structure burn one small room is transitioning to flashover before the DryChemNail is activated. The drychem fills the room and suppresses the fire.

This action will probably not extinguish the fire. But it will buy more time for other actions and more resources to arrive to the scene.

Restrictor version – Room and content fire

During an acquired structure burn a fire in a larger room is starting to develop when the DryChemNail is activated. The room is filled with drychem which cools the smoke and suppresses the fire.

This action will probably not extinguish the fire. But it will buy more time for other actions and more resources to arrive to the scene.

Longer first responder scenario

The first responder arrives at the scene and identifies a fire in the bedroom. To extend time for more resources to arrive the firefighter is going to knock down the fire with a drychem extinguisher.

But the firefighter does not want to break the window to discharge the drychem into the room. Breaking the window may worsen the scenario. Instead a portable drill is used to create a hole for the DryChemNail. The drychem is then discharged into the room with no addition of oxygen or alterations of the existing flow paths.

The firefighter also changes the drychem extinguisher and discharges a second one. As long as there are more extinguishers the firefighter can keep this fire suppressed for a long period of time.

The first responder could be a firefighter, police officer, security guard or anyone else who would need to be able to suppress the fire until more resources arrives.
