Firenerd Talks #23 - Ricardo Weewer

This talk is with Ricardo Weewer. We talk about firefighting in the Netherlands, firefighter research, interior gas cooling and more.

Ricardo Weewer (1961) started as a professor of Fire Service Science at the Netherlands Fire service academy (part of NIPV) in 2011 (part time and in 2015 full time).

He leads the research of the academy and is especially interested in doing practical participative research for the fire service which can be easily applied in practice by the fire and rescue service.

His mission is to improve the safety and effectivity of firefighters.

Before he became professor he was a fire officer in Amsterdam and he became DCFO in 2004.

He studied metals science at Delft University of Technology (NL) and finished his phD in 1991.

This is the truth, or maybe not.

This conversation might not always be accurate. I am no guru and sometimes simple mistakes are made, especially if English isn’t a person’s first language. It’s just our chat – nothing more or less. Have fun!
