Firenerd Talks #20 - Dave Payton

This talk is with Dave Payton. We talk about firefighting in the UK and how it has changed over the years.

Dave Payton is an experienced fire officer with over 28 years service in the second largest metropolitan local authority fire service in the UK.

He has been heavily involved in Breathing Apparatus, Fire Behaviour and Tactical vertical training at strategic level for over 15 years. For the past 4 years he has been the lead SMA for the brigade.

He recently took a secondment at The Fire Service College at Moreton In Marsh in The Cotswolds where he is the college lead for all tactical firefighting training.

He is the chair for the national CFBT user group and been involved in and sit on the committee of The National Breathing Apparatus Challenge since its’ inception 12 years ago.

He proactively research and explore all things fire behaviour/tactical ventilation and relish the opportunity to explore and modernise the way the UK FRS approach fire related incidents.

This is the truth, or maybe not.

This conversation might not always be accurate. I am no guru and sometimes simple mistakes are made, especially if English isn’t a person’s first language. It’s just our chat – nothing more or less. Have fun!
